FOUNDER, PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD
Living throughout Africa since 2009, Alexis has worked on an extensive list of programs from humanitarian aid to wildlife rescue. In the past she has provided strategies for development, implementation, marketing and evaluation of multiple humanitarian aid/conservation projects in East & South Africa as well as Indonesia. She realized through this work that turning the dreams of others into a reality was her true passion and her experience of working with people at all levels of society gave her the idea for Einstein Rising. Alexis holds a Bachelors of Science from The New School in NYC. Her personal passion is wildlife rescue and volunteering with conservation groups in Seattle and Uganda.
Born in Jinja Uganda. Halima has ventured in a variety of businesses since her childhood. She has a degree in Business Administration from Kampala International University and has dedicated her life to mentoring upcoming entrepreneurs. She believes in creating a better Africa. Her experience in the business sector as well her passion to be part of the solution to social problems make her the ideal candidate to offer direct support to our entrepreneurs. She believes, “Chase the vision, not the money; the money will end up following you”.
JOHN MARK MUWANGALA
BOARD MEMBER. EAST AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT ADVISOR
With eight years of experience in banking, sales and development finance, John Mark has focused on acquisition, appraisal, credit risk analysis, and portfolio management for small to medium enterprises. His development strategies for local companies have helped to increase profits, and impact alongside marketing, development financing. He’s a vital asset to the development of Einstein Rising, alongside being a great mentor for our entrepreneurs.
John Mark lives in Kampala, Uganda with his wife and daughter. He is currently the sales and marketing manager for Mango Tree, a local Uganda company who are among the market leaders in development of innovative interpersonal communication and grassroots education tools.
FINANCIAL GROWTH ADVISOR
Brian is the founder and director for Accounts Plus Uganda, the fastest growing business support services company in the country. He is a certified CPA and has earned a Bachelors in actuarial science from Makerere University in Kampala. His life goal is to be the best in everything he does. He is applying that belief in his work with ER’s entrepreneurs. He teaches the cores tools of financial management and supervises them as they grow their companies and apply their financial literacy skills.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS, VICE PRESIDENT. CENTRAL/EAST AFRICA SPECIALIST
Hameed was born and raised in Central Uganda, after graduating from Makerere University with a degree of Veterinary Medicine he dedicated himself to protecting wildlife and habitat by fostering relationships between their communities. His expertise is in eco-friendly community initiatives, animal production, economic conservation and wildlife medicine. Currently, he is the senior veterinarian for Uganda Wildlife Education Center, a wildlife rescue facility and education hub. While working with a Ugandan non-profit, Hameed met Alexis Chavez as she introduced human health and conservation based technology to communities living around endangered mountain gorillas. Hameed’s vision for human health, environment and the economy made him one of Einstein Risings strongest influences. Throughout his life, he has seen ambitious African entrepreneurs’ dreams crumble due to insufficient support and saw in Einstein Rising an opportunity to change that. His favorite motto is “The same sun that melts the wax, hardens the clay”.
SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER
Phillipa graduated from Uganda Christian University with a degree in Mass Communication. She currently works for an advertising agency where she uses her creativity to change the landscape of how commercials work in Uganda. She is has experience in behavior change communication and developing tools that influence creative thinking. During her down time she likes to read and ponder the meaning of life.
Stefanie works in the fields of education and behaviour change at a local company in Kampala, Uganda. She is a proficient curriculum writer, material developer and project manager. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
She has lived in Kampala, Uganda for three years because she is inspired to live in a country that is rapidly changing and developing. She enjoys witnessing how ordinary people with innovative business ideas push the country forwards. In her personal life, she enjoys travelling, baking and reading by the pool.
Peter is a graduate of University of Delaware. He has a diverse background in non-profit financial management and the direct-trade coffee industry, making him the perfect candidate to manage our diverse financial needs. Currently, Peter works as an Employment Consultant, a Seattle-based organization that serves adults with disabilities. Peter is an avid runner and pizza connoisseur.
